DALLAS (December 20, 2021) – The Dallas Open announced additional tennis stars that will take the court for the inaugural tournament on February 6 – 13, 2022 at the Styslinger/Altec Tennis Complex at SMU. Current No. 1 American player Taylor Fritz and former World. No 4 Kei Nishikori have committed to the tournament. Fritz and Nishikori join previously announced players Grigor Dimitrov, John Isner and Reilly Opelka.

Fritz is hot off a 12-4 run to finish the 2021 season at a career-high No. 23 and as the top ranked American player. The 6’5” Miami, Florida resident reached his first ATP Masters 1000 semi-finals at the 2021 Indian Wells following the biggest win of his career saving two match points against No. 4 Alexander Zverev. Fritz won his first ATP Tour title at Eastbourne in 2019 at 21 years-old, becoming the youngest American in the Top 25 since Andy Roddick in 2004.


Nishikori is a 12-time ATP Tour title winner and earned the biggest of his 400+ career wins over No. 1 Novak Djokovic at 2014 US Open to become the first Asian Grand Slam men’s singles finalist. Nishikori defeated Rafael Nadal to win the bronze medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics, bringing Japan its first Olympic tennis medal in 96 years. The 5’10” Bradenton, Florida resident also holds the record for the highest win percentage among active players in fifth sets (27-2, .794) and second highest in deciding sets (147-56, .724).


The 2022 Dallas Open marks the return of ATP Tour level tennis to Dallas for the first time in more than 30 years. The tournament will feature over 60 world-class ATP Tour professionals and be televised worldwide to more than 100 countries. It will be the only ATP Tour indoor championship in the United States, and one of only 10 total states-side events.
